“After 32 years of caring for adults, identified as patients with chronic illness, I too, accepted being diagnosed with disease that would be chronic and affect my heart and lungs. I began taking medication to maintain my “status quo.” As I entered my golden years I carried a card in my wallet listing my diagnoses and medications should it ever get the best of me and rend me unable to communicate this essential information.
Like many of the lovely people I assisted with daily routine; diagnosed illness had become a restraint, keeping me from enjoying my life to the fullest with an optimistic future. I now realize that I lived in fear a I found my way to the door of Matt’s studio. He greeted me palpable positivity and as we talked of my goals, I tearfully shared that I had walked past a storefront window and no longer recognized the reflection of the woman in the glass looking back at me. Matt simply too my hand and said “I’ve got you.” I had come to a place of healing.
Matt became my educator, cheerleader, accountability partner and coach. As we worked together to peel each of the layers of a lifetime of misinformation, unhealthy eating, behaviors and practices, I made a gradual shifts one step at a time as I embraced my body’s ability to heal itself when respected and treated properly.
Matt became my trusted practitioner of myofascial release, a therapy that relieves the excessive tightening of the connective tissue that holds all organs and vascular system together. Positive results were immediately recognized following treatments as I opened up and functioned more freely.
Most Recently I have become open to adding natural, Whole Foods based supplements to my daily routine. Matt is trained and can non invasively assess areas of imbalance in my body and recommend the appropriate supplements specific to my needs. After two weeks, I already feel amazing. As a bonus I have lost an additional 5 lbs and my appetite for unhealthy snacking is gone!
The health and well being of this truly amazing body that God perfectly created has little to do with the number of birthdays I’ve celebrated and everything to do with what I feed it - nutritionally, mentally and spiritually.
This is the first day of the rest of my life! - carpe diem! (Alison)
P.s. with the approval of my primary physician, I NO LONGER TAKE ANY MEDICATION for what had been diagnosed as chronic lung disease. I climb 3 flights of stairs carrying a 5 gal jug of water.”
